Join us for the IEF September Lecture 2024 at 7:03pm UK Time. We will be Joined by Christopher John Khoury, former managing director of Ebenezer Home in Israel, who will share about the “Fear of Death and Fear of Dying among Jews and Christians”
Here is a short introduction from the lecturer:
“Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries there were dramatic changes in medical technologies enabling physicians to prolong the lives of terminally ill persons. Sometimes however, they also prolonged their suffering and misery without significantly enhancing the quality of life.
The lecture will refer to the factors influencing the decisions to extend life artificially, and especially to the influence of the religion/faith factor. Among other things, I will refer to the research I did on the subject among Christian Arabs from the “Catholic” and “Protestant” denominations, and the comparison of the findings and consequences to those found in studies conducted among religious and secular Jews.”
